Easily design and animate pie charts, bar graphs, and line graphs inside After Effects.
We now have 3 separate After Effects templates to help you build data-driven charts and graphs:
The Pie Chart Builder template lets you design and animate data-driven pie charts inside After Effects.
With the PIE CHART BUILDER comp open, click on the PIE CHART layer.
Under the Values section of the Pie Chart effect, you can input the values of each item in the pie chart (up to 10 items).
The template will automatically determine the percentage of each value based on the total of all the values. Each of these values can be key framed.
Note: If the value is 0, the corresponding label and slice will be hidden.
Under the Colors section of the Pie Chart effect, you can adjust the color for each of the slices and labels.
Under the Labels section of the Pie Chart effect, you can control the appearance of the labels.
Label Display
Select how you want each label to be formatted:
You can change the name of each label by editing the corresponding text layer.
Note: Only enter the name of the label in the text field (i.e. “Advertising”). The template will automatically append the corresponding percentage.
Label Margin
This sets the distance from the outside of the pie chart that each label will appear.
Match Label Colors w/ Pie Chart
When toggled on, each label color will match with the corresponding slice color. When toggled off, each label will be set to the Alternate Label Color.
You can freely move the PIE CHART around the comp or copy and paste it (along with the label text layers) to a different comp.
Adjust the scale of the pie chart using the Scale slider found in the Pie Chart effect.
To clean up your comp, you can delete any unused label text layers if you are using under 10 values.
You can adjust the position of each label by free dragging the layer. Note: Each label will remain parented to the proper position of the circle.
The font and size of each label can be adjusted however you like.
The Bar Graph Builder template lets you design and animate data-driven bar charts inside After Effects.
With the BAR CHART BUILDER comp open, click on the BAR CHART layer. Navigate to the “Bar Chart” effect. This is where you will make most of your bar chart customizations.
In the Graph Appearance section of the “Bar Chart” effect, you can make the following adjustments:
Graph Width
Sets the width of the graph (excluding labels) in pixels.
Graph Height
Sets the height of the graph (excluding labels) in pixels.
Bar Thickness
Sets the width of each bar in pixels.
# of Values
Sets the number of values/bars (up to 10).
Max Value
Sets the label for the highest value shown on the Y-axis. Also used to compute the values in between.
Min Value
Sets the label for the lowest value shown on the Y-axis. Also used to compute the values in between.
Auto-center
When toggled on, the graph will be centered in the middle of the comp. When toggled off, you can freely change the position of the BAR CHART layer.
Grid Color
Sets the color of the graph’s horizontal grid lines.
The Y-axis labels are automatically computed based on the Max Value & Min Value.
The X-axis labels can be freely edited within each individual text layer.
The Y-Axis labels can be re-positioned freely along the X-axis.
The X-Axis labels can be re-positioned freely along the Y-axis.
The font of all labels (X&Y) can be changed on each text layer.
In the Labels section of the “Bar Chart” effect, you can make the following adjustments:
Y-axis Font Size
Sets the font size of the Y-axis labels.
Y-axis Font Color
Sets the font color of the Y-axis labels.
X-axis Font Size
Sets the font size of the X-axis labels.
Match X-axis w/ Bars
When toggled on, each X-axis label will match the color of the corresponding bar. When toggled off, each X-axis label will be set to the “Alternate X-axis Color.”
In the Values section of the “Bar Chart” effect, you can set the numerical value for each corresponding bar within your chart.
Note: If a value is less than the Min Value, the bar will not be shown. If the value is more than the Max Value, the bar will go off the chart (literally).
In the Colors section of the “Bar Chart” effect, you can set the color for each corresponding bar within your chart.
The Line Graph Builder template lets you design and animate data-driven bar charts inside After Effects.
The GRAPH layer of the template allows you to control the overall appearance of the line graph, while the LINE layers control the specific values and appearance of the lines you want to chart.
With the GRAPH layer selected, navigate to the “Line Graph” effect.
In the Graph Appearance section, you can make the following adjustments:
Graph Width
Sets the width of the graph (excluding labels) in pixels.
Graph Height
Sets the height of the graph (excluding labels) in pixels.
# of Values
Sets the number of values/points for each line (up to 10).
Max Value
Sets the label for the highest value shown on the Y-axis. Also used to compute the values in between.
Min Value
Sets the label for the lowest value shown on the Y-axis. Also used to compute the values in between.
Margin
Set the amount of space (in pixels) between the line and the edges of the chart.
Auto-center
When toggled on, the graph will be centered in the middle of the comp. When toggled off, you can freely change the position of the GRAPH layer.
In the Labels section of the “Line Graph” effect, you can make the following adjustments:
Y-axis Font Size
Sets the font size of the Y-axis labels.
Y-axis Font Color
Sets the font color of the Y-axis labels.
X-axis Font Size
Sets the font size of the X-axis labels.
X-axis Font Color
Sets the font color of the X-axis labels.
With a LINE layer selected, navigate to the “Line” effect.
In the Values section of the “Line” effect, you can set the numerical value for each corresponding point within your graph.
In the Appearance section of the “Line” effect, you can make the following adjustments:
Line Color
Sets the stroke color of the line.
Line Thickness
Sets the stroke thickness of the line. This can be set to 0 to hide the stroke completely.
Include Fill
When toggled on, the line will include a fill beneath the line extended to the bottom of the graph.
Fill Color
Sets the color of the fill (if Include Fill is on).
You can add as many additional lines to the graph as you like by duplicating the LINE layers. Once you have a new LINE layer, repeat steps 3-4.
