Add a Blinking Cursor to Any Text Layer with Blinky

Blinky is now part of Type -- a powerful toolset for working with text layers in After Effects.

Blinky is an After Effects script that lets you add a blinking cursor to any text layer in After Effects with one click.

Step 1 - Open Blinky Panel

Access the Blinky UI panel through Window > Blinky.

Step 2 - Add Blinky

Select a text layer and click the Add Blinky button. This generates a new layer named "[text-name]_cursor."

Step 3 - Customize Cursor

With the cursor layer selected, adjust these parameters:

Color -- Modifies the cursor's color appearance.

Rounded cap -- Enables rounded endpoints on the cursor shape.

Thickness -- Controls cursor width measured in pixels.

Height -- Adjusts cursor height relative to the text's font size.

Blink duration -- Determines the animation cycle length in frames.
